Living Large Families seeking more living space often say the trade-off is sacrificing neighborhood harmony (design and otherwise). But for us, it's important to build to meet clients' needs and fit the scale of the community. This custom home proves it's possible. The site had been written off by many as "unbuildable." But we saw a comfortable family home with ample views and privacy. The design features quadrants linked by small "bridges": an entry court, a family wing, a living and bedroom wing, and a garage/master suite. The result fits in with the century-old bungalows common in the suburban neighborhood yet had a unique flair. Result: happy family and a 1996 design award from Custom Home magazine.
