Kitchen and Bath Renovation

For their frequent dinner parties and for the love of cooking, these homeowners wanted to enlarge and improve the function and form of their kitchen. They wanted a space which not only complemented their contemporary art and furnishings, but could itself be considered a unique work of art. The backsplash is one of the more unique design features of the space. After exploring many options, the homeowners loved the idea of a backlit resin backsplash. They chose one with impregnated blades of grass which complements the rift-cut oak cabinetry. Due to the crucial dimensions and design of each resin panel, getting the details right required some thought and experimentation. The homeowners wanted a raised breakfast bar to which we proposed an asymmetrical floating upper countertop. To support the 24 overhang with no support legs or visible brackets, we designed and constructed a skeletal system which was then bolted to the cabinet below.
