EDGE Energy

EDGE Energy is a licensed, insured, and bonded contractor in DC, VA, and MD, incorporating green building standards during energy-saving installations for home and business owners. We design and install custom solutions for energy efficiency and renewable energy systems with pride and with proven track records. Our special focus is completing projects which decrease utility bills and energy consumption by 25% to well over 100% – even creating homes that are “net-positive.”

We have a growth and success story traced amid a recession and the constantly changing regulatory landscape of building codes, energy rebate centers, and limited access to financing options which help homeowners pays for energy improvement work.

Our Company started in 2006 (out of a garage) with 2 employees and has managed to grow substantially over the past 6 years, now employing 24 people in 3 states. The Company’s workers have received training under numerous building science, weatherization, and renewable energy system designations (see our affiliates page). Some of this training has been sponsored by grants won from the MD Workforce Exchange in 2010 and others sponsored directly by the Company.

New business and construction contracts have stemmed largely from weatherization work subsidized by utility company rebate and incentive programs, federal IRS tax credits, and low-income Weatherization Assistance Programs (WAP) managed by state DHCD offices and the DOE. From 2007-2011, the company has completed over 2,000 home energy audits and air-sealing and insulation (weatherization) services in over 1,500 homes. In addition, we have installed over 250 kW of clean solar energy systems.

The founder, Jason Dispenza, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in 2000 and then the University of Virginia in 2004. As an engineer and economist and entrepreneur, he is very interested in our domestic energy policy, local energy rebate programs, and ensuring the data and quality within our nascent industry produces meaningful results for both EDGE Energy’s clients and their wallets but also our planet.

As a partner with the Maryland Utilities’ Home Performance programs, EPA’s Energy Star Program, Maryland and Virginia Home Performance programs, the DC State Energy Utility, and others, EDGE Energy submits completed jobs for financial rebates, tax incentives, NAHB certificates, and ENERGY STAR labels for our clients and homeowners.

As a core value to our customer service policy, we assist homeowners with their tax, grant, utility, and energy rebate paperwork… just trying to make “going green” easy.
