Are your customers telling you the whole truth?
GuildQuality Employee Spotlight: Coco EsserJuly 19th, 2017 by
Happy One Year Anniversary!
Name: Coco Esser
Title: Partner Marketing Coordinator
Start Date: July 5, 2016
Tell me about yourself; where are you from and what brought you to GuildQuality?
I am originally from Macon, Georgia, but I frequently visited Atlanta growing up. I am a first generation Georgian, and yes Coco is my real name (after Coco Chanel). I was a surveyor at GuildQuality for three years while I attended Georgia College. After working at Walt Disney World in Orlando, I decided I wanted to be closer to friends and family. GuildQuality happened to be hiring for a marketing position, so I immediately applied!
What career advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
I would say don’t be afraid to take risks or fail. Also, do what is best for yourself and not what you think others want you to do.
Great advice! In three words, how would you describe the environment here at GuildQuality?
What do you love most about working for GuildQuality?
I love the people (and the dogs)! It’s great to work for a company that feels like a family. I truly feel that I am a valued member of the team and I look forward to going to work every day.
The dogs are definitely a plus! What would you say is your favorite GQ memory?
Shortly after I started at GuildQuality, a group of us floated down the Chattahoochee River. It was a great way to be welcomed to the team.
How do you think GQ has impacted the home construction/remodeling industry?
In a world where social media and customer reviews are king, we give contractors and homeowners a way to connect beyond the job site. Contractors can actively manage their online reputation and see the ins and outs of how their business performs. In addition, homeowners can honestly share their experience or choose a trustworthy contractor in their area.
Absolutely! Now on a more personal note, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend a lot of my time training with the Atlanta Track Club. When I’m not running, you can find me eating my way through Atlanta, attending a neighborhood festival, or exploring a museum.
It sounds like you really know the city! Where is your favorite place to be in Atlanta?
I love being in Piedmont Park. There is always something going on!
Okay, here’s a tough one. If you could invite three people (dead or alive) over for dinner, who would you invite and why?
I would invite Audrey Hepburn, Frida Kahlo, and my Abuela. They are three strong, independent women whom I admire.
And if you had to eat the same meal for the rest of your life – breakfast, lunch, and dinner—what would that meal be and why?
I would eat these tacos that my Abuelo used to make or my Abuelita’s paella. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Sounds delicious! Do you have a hidden talent?
I can sense when there is a cat around. It’s a skill when you are a certified cat lady.
Wow, that seems more like a super power! What is your favorite television show?
My favorite show is either Golden Girls or Catfish. They both offer great advice about life.
Okay, final question. What are you most excited about for the upcoming year?
I am currently training for the Chicago Marathon in October. This will be my first marathon and my first time in Chicago!
We wish you the best of luck and congrats on your one-year anniversary!
