They are tough to take off. If it's glued to drywall, you can use a prybar to rip it off from the drywall. Note: You will more than likely need to repair the drywall when you're finished, if you are going to have a finished wall. Go slow or you'll break the mirror. Also, wear safety glasses and gloves - a must.

The first thing is to decide is this going to be just a swap out of fixtures in place of existing fixtures, a full custom redesign of your bath or a combination of those two. Then you should create a realistic budget for what work you would like to do. The problem can be what is a realistic budget? You can call bathroom remodeling contractors and designers in your area and get a feel for what a bathroom remodel might cost just by having a few phone conversations. Be up front with details and ideas that you might be thinking about. The more information you share the better feedback they will be able to give you. With these phone calls you will not only get a good feel for what it might need to invest to get the bath you have pictured in your mind, but will have a chance to interview a few different contractors and designers on the phone. Then you can decide which two or three you would like to have out to do a in person on site interview.
The best bathroom remodels are the ones that start with a realistic budget, clear defined set of plans and a contractor or designer that you fully trust for guidance and advice.

Always seal first and then paint. Why are you re-sealing the corners?
Seal the corners first, prime, and lastly paint.
Bathrooms, depending on size and complexity, typically range from $4,000 upwards of $30,000+. It depends on many variables. Are you replacing what you have or changing the layout of your bathroom? Here are some options to consider and there is much information to gain by looking on the internet. You can install a standard tub or jet tub. If you install a jet tub, does it have an in-line heater and do you need to increase the capacity of your hot water heater? You can install flooring from the most budget conscious vinyl to in-floor heated tile. Do you want an acrylic surround in your shower space or do you want to install tile or solid surface surround? Single shower head or sidewall spray? You also have the option of Steam shower, but consider ventilation and again hot water capacity. It is wise to do your research on the internet to get ideas and even learn what questions to ask. It would be good to speak to at least 3 experienced and credentialed contractors. Make sure they have been in business and at their location for at least 5 years. You may check out our website at http://www.croixco.com/ and click on our Pinterest account in the upper right corner. Once you have entered Pinterest, look under Bathrooms to see pictures that may give you some ideas.
We recommend that clients take a look at our website, our online testimonials and our Guild Quality feedback and scores to get a good feel for our company. Next we recommend they take some time to fill our Bath Planning Questionnaire so our design team will know exactly where to begin! Filling out this questionnaire is completely optional, but we have found that the questions help our clients gain insight into their needs for their new space.
In addition to some of the other answers, the Better Business Bureau is another resource to use to begin your search for a contractor. Friends and family may have also had a good experience with a contractor and may be able to refer you. Make sure to use a contractor that has been in business for at least 5 years as a large percentage of contractors fail within 2 years and simply reform under a new name. Make sure the estimates you receive are as detailed as possible. While you don't want to experience prejudice because of your zip code, the cheapest bid usually should be discarded along with the highest bid. Make sure to do your research on-line. While unforseen issues usually do arise in complex projects, a good, experience contractor should forsee many of these. This will help you avoid taking the lowest bid and then paying large add-on and change order upcharges. When asking for references, it is good to get some recent ones, as well as, some from 2+ years back.
A good, reliable general contractor would never charge more or less depending on your address. GuildQuality.com is one of the best places to find real, honest feedback from REAL clients. You can also use the map feature on each pro's listing to see who has worked in your area!
Nathan,
If we average the last couple of bathoom shower with bench including new shower, drain assembly, shower value and water line, gut and redo the shower with upscale tile and venting and lighting it runs about $35k.

Depends on the specific type of tub but they can very quickly get over 300lbs.
I have thrown out my back moving them out when they were broken into two pieces so they are not light. Some run as heavy as 500lbs+
Seal first, repaint second, sealant is like caulking used to cover openings.
Same as others said, Remodeling magazine's Cost Vs. Value report is a great resource!
