How can I quickly upgrade the exterior of my home/front yard?
Mar 25, 2017

A very quick and cost effective way to upgrade your homes exterior is a cleaning and color change. Pressure wash to clean it up and paint the shutters and front door.  They can remain the same color or pick a fresh new color.  You can also take any old fixtures that have faded over time and paint the metal with a fresh satin or gloss paint.  Same with metal railings or metal awnings. Possibly a one day job with big results.

How can I quickly upgrade the exterior of my home/front yard? I want to give the exterior of my home a springtime 'facelift' without completely relandscaping my yard/renovating my house. What kind of exterior upgrades do you suggest I make to achieve this, without breaking the bank?

What are the most popular/valuable indoor or outdoor home fixtures/colors/materials for 2017?
Feb 1, 2017

As a basement finishing company we're seeing a lot of granite for wet bars, lighter colors. Bathrooms and tile are often favoring gray. Brushed nickel and steel are the most common hardware and fixtures. Clean, simple, easy to mix up with rustic or modern decor.

We're still seeing a lot of demand for granite and/or quartz countertops.  With the quartz, people are doing more subtle patterns and a lot of marble looks (white with light veining or similar).  Cabinets seem to be following a gray/neutral/white color palette, with lots of clean lines.  We're still seeing stainless steel and brushed nickel for appliances and hardware, however we saw quite a bit of matte brass and gold tones at KBIS this year.  That seems to be making a comeback, but I think that might still depend on your area.  I think oil-rubbed bronze is probably on its way out, unless you're doing a rustic look.  Hope that helps!

I'm planning on putting my house on the market in the spring, but before I update my home, I'd like to know what's trending right now, in terms of countertops (kitchen and bath), flooring, colors, light fixtures, etc. Basically, what are home buyers liking more and more? And is there anything I should avoid doing/adding?

We are looking for some painters who did excellent work for us in the past but do not seem to be with their previous employer.

We have a painter that we use for all of our projects that involve staining or painting.  Painting Pro LLC.  One of the best we have seen and used for many years.  Let me know if you would like to contact him and I can send you his contact info.

CertaPro Painters- it’s a nationwide franchise. See their trucks all over. Never used them, but heard only good things so far. Good luck! … and let us know ;)

I will need to start thinking about repainting the exterior of my home, what's new in products and paint?

Are you looking solely for paint options or new exterior cladding options.  If the latter, go to everlastsiding.com.

Great product.

I have a ranch-style brick house and I'd like to give it a facelift. Do you recommend painting brick or will it be a lot of maintenance/work in the long-run?

Try Shewin Williams Loxon XP which is for Masonry.  It lasts a very long time and no need to prime.

All of the premium coatings have been improving the last few years.  Our company uses Sherwin - Williams SuperPaint for the Body and Duration for the trim.  If you can afford duration for the whole house it could be worth the extra dollars.

The newest thing is that paint has gotten expensive !

Thank you

If you currenlty have a house that is part brick and part siding (as opposed to all brick)... paint it.  If it's all brick with only wood trim accents, get a designers opinion.  If painting, be sure to use a premium bonding latex primer (like Gripper) and finish coat.  It'll make the house appear bigger and cleaner.  Most moisture will work its way through premium latex finishes and if it's enough moisture coming through the wall to deteriorate brick or cause your paint to peel, you've got a bigger issue to address.

Sherwin Williams Duration Exterior Satin finish is the only way to go.  If you don't have the ability to reside or replace your paint-needing product with something maintenance free.... Duration.
