I started my building career in 1984 in a partnership with a developer. In 1996 I started J.W. Ivey & Associates, Inc. with 100% ownership. Since then the company has built speculative and custom homes. In the last several years the focus has shifted to more custom homes.

Our focus is in helping customers evaluate homesites and choose or design a floor plan that fits their needs, lifestyle and budget. We use an interior decorator in the building process to help the customer with the many choices they face. The scope of our work is from the beginning of a desire to build to a completely finished home.

We will build between 15 and 25 homes per year.

I have a quote in my office that says "I make my living building houses but I live my life building relationships and helping families." I want people to know that my livelihood is building houses but there are more important things in life.

I try to establish trust from the onset, I want them to know that I care about their needs first and foremost and want to give them the best value for their cost. Keep your integrity at all times and people will recommend you to others.

In working with clients I try to understand their lifestyle, desires and needs. many times they may not understand what they are asking for or the effect it can have on lifestyle. Our previous experience helps us to explain many different advantages and disadvantages some designs may offer.

We market ourselves through Real Estate Companies in the developments we build in. Referrals account for over 50 percent of our business.

I thoroughly enjoy the building business. There is no other business where you can develop a life long friendship with families and get to see a home built in a six month time frame. It is a great feeling to see your customers in the grocery store, church, etc. and have them tell you how much they are enjoying their new home.
