Guildmaster Q&A

Scope of Work

Generally speaking residential builders fit into two distinct business classifications, production or custom, and these two classifications typically focus on a limited price range. Sabal Homes seemingly breaks the mold by offering customers a wide range of prices, product, locations, and personalization. With a sophisticated back office processing system, Sabal Homes is uniquely positioned to handle each of these dynamics yet never lose sight of the most important part, satisfying each customer. No two customers are completely alike, and we don't expect their houses to be either. Whether it's painting a bedroom pink for a new baby or adding a dog shower in a garage, we have systems in place to accommodate these customized changes for buyers in every price range.

More than 90% of your clients would recommend your firm to a friend. How do you earn such high praise from your customers?

That's easy- we build each of our homes as if we were going to live in them ourselves and treat each of our customers as we would want to be treated. At Sabal Homes that means several things: 1) Never treating a customer or their home as just another order or a number. 2) Setting proper upfront expectations and then meeting or exceeding those expectations. 3) Open line of communication throughout the entire process 4) Having team members on board that are aligned with the company's beliefs and that don't just talk about servicing our customers, but are out there doing it on a daily basis 5) Customer service doesn't stop when the home is closed.

A true cultural philosophy from management to construction and sales staff to contractors is paramount to ensure that everyone buys into these concepts- that core message must then be acted upon daily.

Client Profile

Our "niche" at Sabal Homes is the home buyer who is genuinely concerned about their investment. We cater to buyers who desire quality in a home and a personal relationship with our company. Not only is a home a great investment, it is also a personal and emotional purchase. Our customers recognize our appreciation for them and their home. Our customers are savvy, intelligent and diligent in their home search.

Our "niche" at Sabal Homes is the first time buyer and move up buyer. We pride ourselves on delivering custom home value and quality at production home pricing. However, with such a wide variety of product, pricing, and locations we actually have quite a few "move-down" and second and third home buyers as well.

Why are you a builder?

Simply put, we love the business! As owners of Sabal Homes, we are Carolina natives, so we truly care about quality of construction, the environment of our great state, and the way we interact with our customers. We are from here and plan on staying here, so we are not going to do anything that would compromise our reputation. There is a reason why one of the owners personally performs the final walk with each customer, why we build EarthCraft certified and Energy Star rated homes, why we want the Sabal Home experience that we provide for each customer to be one that lasts a lifetime and one that they can't help but tell their friends and family about. We've had customers crying at the closing table because they were so excited about there new home, for most purchasing a new home is a fulfillment of a dream - the moment we lose the passion about fulfilling that dream is the day we close the doors at Sabal Homes.

Lindsey and Michel were probably the best two people I've ever dealt with in buying anything, from something small to buying a car to buying this house. They were outstanding.

The quality of the house. Our house is beautiful! We love it! It stands out in the neighborhood because of the raised slab and architecture.

Comment Additional Comment Summerville, SC Aug 12, 2010

We looked for a long time before moving here. We waited almost eight months before making a choice and we kept coming back here number one because of Cameron. He really listened to us and got us the most bang for our buck. We have five kids and they really listed to what was important to us, we didn't find that at every development. They fit the needs of our family and they were always accessible. Cameron came out here on his days off to make sure things were done right. I really appreciate he and Chris being able to customize things to our needs.

Everyone went above and beyond to make my home purchase easier. Many of things that were done, the help that I received, I don't believe any other builder would have done for it's customers. It was more than just buying a house, it was becoming part of a community.

Comment SH Homeowner Orientation Ladson, SC Mar 20, 2010

They were very good about all of these orientations. They fixed everything that we pointed out to our satisfaction. It's a very well built house. We had an inspector come by and he said that the house is constructed very well.

Comment Area Of Satisfaction Ladson, SC Feb 27, 2010

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They really seem to strive for customer satisfaction and we really appreciate that.

Comment Area Of Satisfaction Summerville, SC Feb 24, 2010

Every question I had they answered. If they didn't know the answer right away, they made sure to find out for me. I was very satisfied with that.

Comment Area Of Satisfaction Summerville, SC Feb 16, 2010

the representatives of the company have all been very helpful, took time with me to answer all of my questions and displayed a real interest in what I had concerns over. I think they are a great team and do a fabulous job in the home buying process

Comment Area For Improvement Summerville, SC Feb 12, 2010

They really didn't in any way. The day we moved in we noticed an issue with the doors in the master bathroom that we missed during the walkthrough but Steve got in touch with the builders and it was fixed that very day and we haven't had an issue since.

Comment SH Homeowner Orientation Moncks Corner, SC Aug 07, 2008

I felt as if I were their only customer. I loved the fact that we had an input with everything. It was extremely important for all phases, as there were things noticed at each stage. They pay attention to all the details as evidenced in each one of these stages. Also, the fact that they will see us again in 11 months says something about their wonderful customer service!

About GuildQuality and our Guildmembers

Homebuilders, remodelers, real estate developers and home services companies pay GuildQuality for customer surveying and performance reporting. We refer to these companies as GuildQuality Members, Guildmembers, or members.

Our service helps Guildmembers monitor customer satisfaction and -- if they choose to publish survey feedback on our public website at guildquality.com -- articulate the quality of their service for prospective customers.

All of the Guildmember information we publish at guildquality.com has been provided to us either by the member (such as pictures of work and biographical information) or by their customers via one of our surveys (customer comments, performance summaries, and reviews).

Surveys, Comments and Reviews

All of the customer feedback that we publish is derived from the customers we survey. Our Guildmembers provide us with their customers' contact information, we conduct the surveys, they receive the feedback, and -- if they have chosen to make their feedback public -- the member's performance report is automatically updated to reflect the response. Members may choose to publish a summary of either all of their feedback or their most recent twelve months of feedback.

In addition to average performance ratings and survey statistics, GuildQuality also publishes two types of customer commentary: Comments and Reviews.

A comment has been provided by a survey respondent in response to any one of the survey questions we ask, and a member may or may not choose to publish it. Often customers provide unsolicited testimonials or compliments, and members can choose to share these comments in their published performance report.

Many Guildmembers choose to participate in our formal review process. These members have added an additional question on their survey: "If you'd like to provide a public review of your experience working with the Guildmember, please share it here." In contrast to comments, which a member selects to have published, we publish all reviews, provided they are at least 30 words long. With each review, we include a one to five star rating provided by the survey respondent.

Important Information about choosing a Builder, Remodeler, or Contractor

It is important to note that GuildQuality does not endorse the qualifications of any company. We make no predictions, warranties or guarantees, expressed or implied, about the quality of any work a company on this website may provide. GuildQuality does not accept any liability whatsoever for any harm that might result from any statements presented on this website.

Prospective customers should weigh a multitude of factors when choosing the right building company, and never depend on a single source when making their decision to purchase a home or hire a contractor.
