It has been a good experience and I like the quality of the work they do.
Carol is absolutely awesome. Her attention to detail is comforting and her follow up skills are top notch. We are lucky to be working with Carol Hobbs and Kent homes.
Generally, the customer is the inexperienced partner in a builder/homeowner relationship. Kent Homes levels the playing field and the homeowner can focus on the excitement of their new home building experience.
From a Kent Homeowner who we met while looking at property in St. James Plantation.
Keep doing what you're doing.
I felt a little rushed through the selection process for the design features. As I stated elsewhere in the survey, it was very difficult to make decisions regarding design features by looking at photographs.
The Kent team has been exceptional. They have responded to every request; have been prompt in answering questions and have gone above and beyond making my decision to build a home a positive one. I am totally confident that the building process will be a positive experience and that I will love my new home.
Inquiring about builders at St. James Plantation.
Better selection process for design features in the Seaside Plans for St. James. It is hard to choose fans, light fixtures, etc. from photographs.
We are approximately 2/3rds of the way through the building process, and we never would have thought it could go so smoothly. We'd never built before and had heard our share of horror stories. Our experience has been the opposite of a horror. Much more like a very professional dream.
Again, if there were a 5 Chris would get it because he really does want us to have the very best experience he can offer.
Not only professional and courteous, but caring as well. Both Chris and Carol have shown a lot of concern for our friends, the Browers, in a difficult time. They've definitely gone the extra mile.
Jeff Porter spent a lot of time helping us with our tile backsplash, the painter worked with Chris to accommodate some last minute requests, and our first meeting with our landscaper went very well.
The site gets a 4 for safety and a 3 for cleanliness.
My clear understanding is this: I call Chris, and he gets it done!
Both Chris and Carol would get a 5 on this if there was one!
At this point we're thoroughly satisfied, but the house is still in a fairly "rough" stage to judge completely. As Chris very well knows, my only real concern has been the ultimate color of the exterior brick which I hope will dry to more closely match the sample I chose from in the Design Center.
Kent Homes builds a quality house, but their office is very disorganized. If you want to vary from their model in any way, they have a hard time dealing with that. It seems that they are prisoners of their software. If they don't already have a button to push for that particular item, they have no idea how to handle your request. Many of their subs were very good, and the super on our job was wonderful. If it were not for him, we would have been calling Dan Kent personally at least once a week to address one problem or another. The landscaper (sub) they used in our area is AWFUL. He talks a good talk, but does not deliver. This is the second house we have built, and this was a much less satisfactory experience than our first. If you don't want to think, and are willing just to take whatever they offer, you will at least get a well built house. However, if you have any preferences or opinions about what you would like in YOUR house, we recommend a different builder!
I thought Carol Hobbs was exceptional and responsive.
I head about them through word of mouth.
They should make sure that all extra fees and costs are presented to the customer right away.
I heard about them through the internet..
I would like more options, specifically with lighting. Also, I'm not happy with their carpet. I had to upgrade to deluxe. I think they need to upgrade their carpet.
Carol is the best, I'd give her a 4 plus.
Live South conference
Offer the same level of upgrades for all home series. I.E., Let the buyer add options to their delight!
We're just at the framing stage of having Kent Homes build our house, but the people -- from Dan Kent, to Carol Hobbs in Sales and the Design Center, to Chris Moore, our Construction Manager -- have been totally wonderful to work with. They are honest, professional and fair. And having a sense of humor during what can be a stressful time doesn't hurt either! They all qualify in that dept. too, and that shouldn't be underestimated.
I believe it was the Live South Show in the Washington, D.C. area and/or a recommendation from our St. James Sales Rep.
The only area they could improve on is more attention to detail in their written documents. It would help them to look as professional as they are in their building and dealing with people.

Homebuilders, remodelers, real estate developers and home services companies pay GuildQuality for customer surveying and performance reporting. We refer to these companies as GuildQuality Members, Guildmembers, or members.
Our service helps Guildmembers monitor customer satisfaction and -- if they choose to publish survey feedback on our public website at guildquality.com -- articulate the quality of their service for prospective customers.
All of the Guildmember information we publish at guildquality.com has been provided to us either by the member (such as pictures of work and biographical information) or by their customers via one of our surveys (customer comments, performance summaries, and reviews).
All of the customer feedback that we publish is derived from the customers we survey. Our Guildmembers provide us with their customers' contact information, we conduct the surveys, they receive the feedback, and -- if they have chosen to make their feedback public -- the member's performance report is automatically updated to reflect the response. Members may choose to publish a summary of either all of their feedback or their most recent twelve months of feedback.
In addition to average performance ratings and survey statistics, GuildQuality also publishes two types of customer commentary: Comments and Reviews.
A comment has been provided by a survey respondent in response to any one of the survey questions we ask, and a member may or may not choose to publish it. Often customers provide unsolicited testimonials or compliments, and members can choose to share these comments in their published performance report.
Many Guildmembers choose to participate in our formal review process. These members have added an additional question on their survey: "If you'd like to provide a public review of your experience working with the Guildmember, please share it here." In contrast to comments, which a member selects to have published, we publish all reviews, provided they are at least 30 words long. With each review, we include a one to five star rating provided by the survey respondent.
It is important to note that GuildQuality does not endorse the qualifications of any company. We make no predictions, warranties or guarantees, expressed or implied, about the quality of any work a company on this website may provide. Prospective customers should weigh a multitude of factors when choosing the right building company, and never depend on a single source when making their decision to purchase a home or hire a contractor.
