The knowledge they gain from each other enables the Pacesetter Builder 20 club members to improve their business operations, increase quality of the homes they build and raise our standards of customer service. To date the Pacesetters have met in the following cities: Washington, DC, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Memphis, TN Philadelphia, PA, San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Omaha, NE, Cleveland, OH, San Francisco, CA, Hartford, CN and Seattle, WA. Ken Garland, Jr served as the 2000 president of the group as well as the local president of the Memphis Area Association of Home Builders.

Ken Garland, Sr. founded Ken Garland Homes in 1965, and his son, Ken Garland, Jr., joined the company part-time in 1988 while attending The University of Memphis. After graduating with a degree is sales & marketing in 1992, he joined the firm full time.

Ken Sr. and his wife Margaret have been married for 42 years and have two children, Ken and Elisa. Ken Jr. has been married to his wife Ashley for 11 years, and they have two children.

Select a knowledgeable builder with experience in building custom homes. Do your homework and plan ahead. Make your selections early and try to avoid changes that add cost and time to the process.
How do you market your company?
Many of our home owner clients come from referrals from previous clients.
What are the biggest challenges facing companies like yours in the building industry? What are some of the challenges facing your business right now?
Our primary challenge is the rise in material and labor costs.

Ken did a fantastic job for us! My wife and I are very pleased with the subcontractors workmanship and level of professionalism. He regularly inspected every detail of the job and communicated all aspects of the project promptly with us and kept our project on budget. Our only regret was that we had not selected him to build our first home.

As in any long term project we had some problems along the way. What makes the difference is in how those issues are resolved. All issues were handled in a non-confrontational manner, always courteously and with an intent to please on behalf of Ken Garland and his subs.
