Their designers that sold us our incredible ceiling transition from the kitchen to the rest of the house and it was wonderful. They were able to do something no one else can even begin to see. The people are very trustworthy and we can leave the house knowing everything will be taken of.

For example, the bathroom paint job is not holding up well, and the paint on the kitchen shelving never seemed to have dried correctly. I don't think the linoleum was installed as well as it could have been (bubbles had to be cut, leaving scars), and the product is difficult to clean. The cabinet maker worked in haste, made a few mistakes (all corrected) and chipped some kitchen corners bringing in the table. I don't think these are problems of Henderer per se, but of a few of the subcontractors. Overall, I think Henderer is an excellent company, the project is a joy to live with every day, and I would recommend them with all my heart to my friends. I will certainly call Henderer for my next remodeling project.
Areas Of Satisfaction: They were so good, I don't know where to start! Probably the best thing about them was their communication. Right from the start, I had a clear idea of time and cost. Dan was absolutely responsive and responsible: I had access to his number at all times and he NEVER failed to respond to a call. Ever. Every one of the workmen was competent, they all liked one another, there was no criticism of their colleagues or the company. They were extremely careful to seal off the work area and to protect those parts of the house where they weren't working. They took care of any problems immediately.

Every person I worked with was the best in his or her own field. Dan was a thoroughly competent manager; In terms of execution, I would give special praise to Ted, who was there every day and really held the project together.
Problem Resolution: This is where the absolute integrity of this company really shines through. There were problems, both before and after the project was completed. Every problem was addressed. Period. As a result of this, I would trust these people with any job and recommend them to my dearest friends.
Employees & Subcontractors: To this I would add that I really appreciated the calm demeanor of Dan, Ted, Mary, Lainey and Gary--in fact, everyone on the staff. I tend to get hyper when people start tearing apart my house and they all did a good job of assuring me that everything would be OK--and it was!
Punchlist: I don't know what a punchlist is, but the project was carried out in a timely manner.
Creative Solutions: Yes. It was a genius idea to make the hall closet open on the kitchen side. What a great use of space--it really maximized every inch.
Original Design: The only thing I really regret is that we didn't spend more time considering how short I am and how difficult it is for me to reach some of the cabinets--altho I really don't see what could have been done.
PM Communication: I can't praise Dan enough. He was available at all times for questions and problems, and I especially liked the way he communicated by cell and email. I often thought he must have slept at the office!
Likely To Recommend: I already have! Every time I show someone the house--my knitting club, my book club, all my friends and neighbors--I make sure they know that Henderer did the work for me.
Easier Than Expected: Before I decided to go with Henderer, I had thought about doing this project for at least 15 years, and I had started the planning phase with two other contractors. I chickened out both times because they made the difficulties seem insurmountable. Only Henderer was able to show me how to bring it all together and actually do it. They were the right people at the right time. I wish I had known about them earlier so I could have enjoyed my new kitchen for more of my life!
Recognized Excellence: Everybody! Do I have to choose? Then I would cite:Dan--for exceptional communication and overall management.Ted--for everything! Mary--for patience with the difficult area of color selection, plus service above and beyond the call of duty: she drove me all the way up to Tualatin (?) to select granite. We were still on good enough terms after that to drive me home!I also think that Lainey is the unsung heroine of the team--she did so many unseen things to help me: tracking down people and names, getting numbers, reminding people to get me things I needed, changing appointments, organizing seminars. She really presents a good face for the whole company.
Additional Comments: Seriously, I could write all day, but I've got to stop. Let me just say that my experience with Henderer was the best any project that makes you cook on the porch and do dishes in the basement could be. It really was easier than I thought, however, because this team is so good. They are competent, reliable, honest, calm, efficient--you couldn't hope for better!

It was beneficial to have the same contractor work on our project, from design through construction and fine-tuning. Their expectation that there would be fine-tuning, and their availability to do so withing the original project scope, was fantastic.
Communication: If there was any miscommunication it was on my part. I'm a "novice customer" who doesn't speak "contractor," so I didn't always know what to ask for, or how to express it. They did a darn fine job of maneuvering through that mine field, all things considered!
Recognized Excellence: We worked with Ted, and he was wonderful. Not only did he do a fine job, with excellent workmanship, but he worked around our curious cat Baggins and managed to keep him from escaping outside, which is not a small feat! I also really appreciated how thoroughly he (and any other workers there may have been) cleaned up every day so dust wasn't tracked through the house. This is a significant "plus!"
Additional Comments: Another significant point to make about Henderer, and it has to be said, is that I never worried about anything being stolen! That peace of mind, coupled with the fact that I was confident from the beginning that they would do an excellent job (based on other client testimonials), is worth every penny we spent. I also really like the fact that Henderer shares the profits with their workers by offering them health care and probably other benefits. That was actually a big factor in my choosing them, even though they were more costly than other bidders.

Communication: I thought Henderer had really good communication. They sent us a schedule. And we always knew when they were coming and when they were done for the day.
Problem Resolution: They noticed some questionable wiring during the project and notified us so that we could get that fixed while the wall was open. It wasn't part of the original project.Also, the ceiling was sagging, so they spent extra time screwing the sheet rock in place first before they textured and painted it.
Employees & Subcontractors: All employees and subcontractors were friendly and professional.Paint crew was heard singing with radio to various tunes including Cindi Lauper. Pretty amusing.
Trust: They didn't leave us hanging.
Likely To Recommend: And we have.
Easier Than Expected: We were afraid to deal with contractors because of all the horror stories from people about projects dragging on forever, and being done sloppily, and over budget. We put it off for a long time.But it was nice dealing with Henderer because we didn't have any of those problems.
Client For Life: We would call them again.
Recognized Excellence: Ted was great. He fixed the closet door which was above and beyond the call. And Dan figured out our cable spaghetti so now we don't have internet and computer cables running across the floors and draped everywhere.

She was really good. It would be nice to have had her available on all projects. It would also be nice to have a little more selection with the rebath part of their business or a little more variety to choose from.

Recognized Excellence: Marry, the interior designer, was awesome. And Dan was very good to work with. All of the subcontractors were so good and so nice. Brent and Dave, two of their employees, do a really nice job and are nice people. Dan and Dave are great.
Additional Comments: I am looking forward to having them come back and do more projects. I'm waiting on the money.

Brent and Ted were expert in their carpentry - they spent a lot of time with us, and were courteous and professional. Gary worked hard on some plumbing challenges, and stayed cheerful as he did. Everyone was just great to work with.

Easier Than Expected: I would not say that but the project like that you do not know what your getting into until your there. But that had nothing to do with them as contractors. It was fine.
Better Service: They really have done a fine job for us thus far, they cannot really do that right now. The only thing that I would not have done was not hire them to do the painting.
