We've had numerous guests see the completed renovation this fall, and all have been impressed with not only the overall transformation of the space but also with how the details of the project were crafted - such as the flush outlets at the island or the custom hood which looks great and aligns with a grout joint or the refrigerator cabinet (Thanks Mike!), to name just a few.

From the outset Feinmann’s design team took time to understand how everyone in the house is using the space and the design and finished product truly reflect that effort. They come up with smart solution to maximize counter space while hiding small appliances, which wows without fail every time we have guest in my house as they have never seen anything like it. The construction team took to heart the fact we are occupying the house and from the outset planned and built a makeshift kitchen and dining room. The construction was cleaned up every evening with minimal intrusion to our lives. I also appreciate their philosophy of not working over weekends. It shows respect to their employee and customer’s lives, and it is evident from talking to Feinmann employees they love working for the company. Ultimately we are very happy with this project that was managed to completion (slightly ahead of schedule) with minimal intrusion to our busy lives with young kids in the house. Every inch of the new space is how we imagined we would like to use it. Thank you Feinmann.

Professional & Organized: Meetings, billing, ordering, response to requests - everything was very professional, always organized.
Construction Quality: Everything was the highest quality. The vanity construction, and Charlie's carpentry were especially good.
Schedule: Agreed upon schedule was 3-4 months. The project took exactly 5 months, but some of the delay was due to (1) a grout leakage problem, and (2) our additional orders (painting & refinishing).
Communication: Always prompt responses.
Problem Resolution: Biggest problem was the leakage of dark-colored grout into the white crackle-glazed tiles. No one expected this. We were impressed with the attempts to fix the stains. When nothing worked, the white tiles were replaced. Excellent work.
Value: It wasn't cheap, but the job was so well done and the materials quality so good, that it was indeed value for money.
Recognized Excellence: Matt Soraghan was great! He was always responsive, patient, and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to work with him. Also, special kudos to Charlie (the carpenter) who did superior work, and was fun to have around.

Problem Resolution: We had a few issues that needed attention and assistance. Both Greg and Michael were amazing. Michael consistently did a superb job in explaining the process & pros/cons and giving us different options. He is a very talented and precise carpenter and it was a pleasure to work with him on a daily basis.
Clean & Safe: Very clean!
Overall Experience: The entire team are quality professionals and our new space speaks for itself. They did a wonderful job and made us feel very much at ease during the whole process. We will highly recommend them for sure.
Easier Than Expected: We practically lived with the Feinmann team for 6 months! Michael on a daily basis made sure we were safe and comfortable by setting out the expectations and dealing with all the subcontractors.
Customer Suggestion: During the build phase there were a couple decisions that were made without consulting fully with us - because they were standard practices in New England. For example the risers here are usually painted and hence a lower grade wood is used. However, we thought they were going to be oak and that we will stain them.

Easier Than Expected: This was a complicated renovation and Feinmann handled the complexities (including COVID restrictions) and any adjustments to the timeline, budget and design in a transparent and collaborative way. We would work with them again in a heartbeat!
Satisfaction: Feinmann has done a truly excellent job at navigating all the rules and regulations with COVID and still doing beautiful work while moving our project along.
Additional Comments: This is our second project with Feinmann and we chose them because we already knew that they were a pleasure to work with, their work is beautiful and durable and they would make our challenging project work. The COVID pandemic started after our project was already initiated and Feinmann met the challenge of continuing to work on our project while ensuring the safety of their team and our family. In addition the work that they have done, their attention to detail and their ability to meet the challenges inherent in any build/renovation project (even in non-COVID times) is impressive. Recognized Excellence: Greg and Phil. They both very much respected our space and family which was so important to us because we lived through the renovation. Phil's carpentry work is beautiful and our home was left very clean every day. Phil also came up with creative solutions to solve problems and gave us options to choose from. Greg kept us on track, was always prepared for our meetings with an agenda and project details, had the difficult conversations with subs, and we felt he had our back throughout the process. He noticed when we were not thrilled with a particular element (e.g. our backsplash) and personally came with us to a tile store to help us make the right decision. Another example is when we felt our island was too long (a point that we questioned during the design phase). Thankfully, Greg and Phil responded and addressed this immediately. Kevin did a beautiful job on the stair railings. Tammy was not technically assigned to our project, but was always willing to help when we needed her to provide guidance on the finishing touches. We very much appreciated her time. Tiago (electrician) did great work, cared about the project, and was great with our kids.
Feinmann: Reputation in the community. We felt Feinmann understood our problem during our initial meeting. The initial meeting made a big difference for us and knowing that a solution could be achieved within our budget.

Feinmann: We had worked with them 9 years ago for a second-floor renovation and been impressed with both the solution they came up with and the quality of their work. After hearing numerous horror stories of renovations delayed due to poor general contracting management, we decided to stay with them because we knew they would do their best to avoid situations resulting in significant delays and cost overruns.

Design Center & Selections: There were some challenges for us in managing the selections process around fixtures, as we felt there were very few options that fit within our allowances, and some hiccups in communication with the store that we were using for these. We appreciated the lengths that Feinmann went to however in mitigating some of these hiccups and working with us to make the process smoother.
Budget: We ended up over budget, but almost entirely from issues that arose during construction that would have been difficult to anticipate. We very much appreciated the way that these overages were managed by the Feinmann team, how issues were communicated, and in some cases how the expenses were shared. I felt that Ryan and others were managing the project as if it was their home, and this engendered a huge amount of trust when problems (rarely) arose.
Problem Resolution: a real area of strength of the Feinmann team, and this helped us have a high level of comfort and trust throughout the project.
Employees & Subcontractors: When neighbors grab us to rave about the behavior of subcontractors, you know that you have picked a great company
Overall Experience: At the end of the day, the process for a gut renovation of our home was smooth and as minimally stressful as possible
Recognized Excellence: Ryan Pirro was a fantastic, professional and dedicated PM that we really can't say enough good things about. Additional Comments: Like any long project, there were some ups and downs, and some periods of frustration - but overall, given the complexity and scale of the job, it was well managed. We enjoyed interacting with all the people who came through our home on the project, so that helped. And when some initial plan ideas turned out not to work out as expected, Feinmann worked with us to adjust and make it right. We do feel that they stand by their word and resolved every issue that arose. We are very pleased with the outcome and are truly enjoying our "new" home.

Customer Suggestion: I think continuing some kind of regular status meeting through to the very end of the project would be a positive change. We had a decent punch list when our regular meetings stopped, albeit of small things, and it was not always clear when things would be completed or who owned the next step. Having a regular opportunity to meet for questions/clarifications/etc until the very end would take some of the angst out of getting those final final tasks completed, on all sides (Feinmann, contractors, clients).

Fienmann finished on time and we had a great event using the renovated porch.
Recognized Excellence: Chris Gonzales as lead carpenter did a great job. His quality was top notch and when we had a few design issues to work through with the planters and the bench he came through.
Feinmann: Feinmann had done our kitchen and 1st floor and we are still enjoying that work 5 years later.
Additional Comments: The design and execution was perfect. We had a strict deadline for a graduation party. They finished a week ahead of that.

Additional Comments: Your collective attention to detail is mightily impressive. An example: the tiler finished adding a bit more tile over the weekend, and --if possible-- our bathroom looks even better! Your sub contractor was really patient and pleasant with each iteration, and he and Kris had a great working relationship. But, the reasoning and solutioning behind adding a bit more tile around the tub was brilliant, and something I never would've thought of (either the concern or the solution). A small example of your architecture/design/build brilliance!

Kris was kind enough to lock up our house after he finished up work while we took off for the holidays. Greg helped us figure out we had some room behind a wall to keep the TV and network cables and such hidden away, which gave us a much cleaner look around the TV. That was a great idea! We appreciated that Barney Maier and Elvin Zayas-Lai continued to provide some advice way after the design phase, even though we didn't always take their advice.

How Can We Do Better?: They have their system down pretty well. The people are there, they communicate well, they're good a following up on the job. Having contractors around is a pain in the neck and they have gone to pretty great lengths to make that process as painless as can be. I don't immediately know what they could to do make my life better.

The temporary kitchen was indespensable. Not sure how we would have managed without it. Also, the drawer directly under the cooktop initially didn't open because it was hitting on the underpart of the cooktop. Initially, Kevin and Kyle weren't sure if they were going to be able to make the drawer operational but they did by modifying the sides and back of the drawer. It seems like a small thing, but we love that we can use that drawer for storing cooking utensils. It's extremely convenient and one of the many things we love about the kitchen. Kevin did such a great job modifying the drawer, it looks like it came from the factory that way.
Recognized Excellence: Peter for taking the time to understand the design of the house and how we used the space so that Feinmann could design a kitchen that fit in with the design of the rest of our house and met our daily needs. Barney for his eye for design. Kyle for being so easy to work with and for quickly fixing the things that we weren't happy with. Kevin for his workmanship and attention to detail.
Feinmann: Online article that indicated that they were one of the top builders in Boston area. We saw photos of some previous jobs and we liked how they looked. When Peter came to the house took real interest in building a kitchen that would fit the design of the house and meet our needs, that was when we knew that Feinmann was the best choice for us. Anyone can rip out an old kitchen and put in some new counters and cabinets, but we wanted someone who cared about design, style and function.

Also, previous results on work done elsewhere were in line with what we were looking for. The in-house architect also meant we could save on the design time and budget.

He is very experienced and creative, and any time anything unexpected happened, we could trust that Kyle would figure out a way to make it right. (For example - we had a vanity installed in the bathroom and there was a gap near the wall - Kyle came up with a great solution. We had a dog feeding station installed, and Kyle found a perfect material to prevent water damage). Also in the rare cases of a problem that was due to Feinmann, there was no arguing about responsibility (eg the initial kitchen sink was an unexpected size and was replaced without argument, and one piece of granite was patched and again, it was replaced without argument).
Feinmann: We had heard good things about the firm over the years. They are not the cheapest, but in this case you get what you pay for. We worked with a high quality team, and got a great redesigned downstairs.

Feinmann: We wanted a design and build contractor. We wanted a single entity to manage the project and be accountable. We also wanted someone who did high quality work.
Additional Comments: Overall, we were very pleased with Feinmann and the project. We love our new kitchen. Feinmann essentially came in on budget and although completion was delayed a bit, it was not significant. Even though some things remained undone we had use of our kitchen by the original completion date.

From the very beginning when I met Peter Feinmann, we were very impressed with him. They were very organized with conversations.Tammy who is the production manager, wow she's fantastic also. We sat around a table, my husband included. We have had a number of conversations sitting around the table talking about ideas for the project, and I really felt like it was a partnership, and that they were listening to us and we were listening to them. It was just such a pleasant experience - really outstanding. I am over the top in what I want to say, because I am just so pleased with the process from beginning to end. The emails, telephone conversations, and around-the-table conversations all happened with patience and professionalism.
Communication: Everybody was so pleasant, polite, professional, and eager to please. There were so many instances when they asked "is there anything else we can do?" They really worked to make sure we were 100%++ pleased with everything. I never had any situation with anyone who came here where I didn't feel I was given the most professional expertise with a smile and a wonderful attitude. It really was like a partnership.
Value: I am very pleased - it's been a wonderful project. We have people who come into the house and say "wow!" I'm really really over the top in what I could say about them. A really wonderful company, wonderful staff with onderful, polite contractors.
