Criner Construction Company was founded by Robert Criner in 1977. Robert began his remodeling career in 1972 while still in high school as a helper for a small, local general contractor. He later moved to a more professional and established firm as a foreman. At the age of 21, Robert decided to go into business for himself and he founded Criner Construction Company. He began his business as a one-man operation, soliciting business in the evening and completing the jobs during the day.

With experience, he hired a couple of part-time people and trained them. In 1985 he incorporated the company which became Criner Construction Company, Incorporated. At first, Criner was uncertain whether his company would focus on building new homes or remodeling. Over time the company has grown to eleven full-time employees who successfully focus exclusively on residential remodeling. Recently the company has decided to adjust its name to reflect this focus. Today Criner Construction Company, Incorporated is doing business as Criner Remodeling.

Why Choose Criner Remodeling?

Being in the remodeling industry since 1977, Criner Remodeling has well over 30 years of experience in residential remodeling. This experience is available to you when you are ready to design and build your next addition, sunroom, kitchen, or bath. Robert Criner has said, "I don't want to be the biggest, but simply the best." To that end, Criner Remodeling invests heavily in its employees, giving them the best training available. Over time, this has resulted in over 100 local and national awards.

Recipient of the First National Remodeling Quality Award

In 1996, the first national Remodeling Quality Award program was jointly sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders Research Center and Remodeling magazine. It was modeled on the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award given by the U.S. Department of Commerce to the country's best-run companies. Judging was based on seven criteria: leadership, quality planning, customer focus, quality management, human resource development, information and analysis, and quality achievements and results. Criner Remodeling was the sole winner in the small company category.

The Nation's 1st Certified Graduate Remodeler

Robert Criner was the first remodeler in the nation to be certified by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers Council. The Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) Program ensures that a remodeler has fulfilled specific educational requirements, and subscribes to a Code of Ethics based upon professional workmanship and customer satisfaction.

The Nation's 1st Graduate Master Remodelor

The Graduate Master Remodeler allows CGRs to attain further recognition for educational excellence and longevity in the remodeling industry. In 2008, Robert Criner became the nation's first Graduate Master Remodeler.

The CGP designation is designed by the NAHB to teach building industry professionals strategies for incorporating green building principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options.

Recipient of the National Master Design Award

Criner Remodeling

I can and DO recommend Criner Remodeling to any of my friends who require such survices. I know I can depend on top notch workmanship, professionalism, and care. The last two alterations to our home were necessitated by my husband's handicaps. There was care in design and execution that satisfied us completely.

It is always unsettling to have a bunch of other people occupying one's home. However, in the case of Michael and his crew, the pluses cancelled out the minuses. Michael was thoughtful, compassionate and kept my home cleaner than I do, myself. One day he was waiting for someone to do something so he quietly shined the washing machine. ..typical...The crew was quiet (as they could be) and always courteous, friendly, and always kind.

I am very pleased with my experience with Criner Remodeling. Their clever design approach for removing the existing walls and supporting the roof truss loads provided a very clean design for the Great Room. We were very comfortable with their staff in our home, and we did not have any concerns about leaving the house while they were there. Another strong point is that their Certified Remodeler conducts periodic, independent inspections of all completed work to ensure that their high standards are maintained. Therefore, I did not need to check up on their work. The house was always left clean and ready for use at the end of each work day. Once they started the project, they worked on-site until the project was completed.

Criner Remodeling

I contacted Criner Remodeling after a tree fell on my house during Hurricane IRENE, damaging both the exterior and interior. They were responsive to my immediate need and returned to make permanent repairs in a reasonable time thereafter. They stayed true to their schedule and the promise to stay on the job until complete (I never had to wonder when the contractor was going to come back). They were thorough and comprehensive with the itemized work to be done, and they went through the work plan with me line by line. Also, they tried to work to make the whole repair as convenient for me as they could. I thought Criner Remodeling did a first class job.

The entire process from the walk-thru, estimates, agreed time schedule, installation, supervisor checking work and doing a follow-up, to billing. The individual assigned to our project, Doug, was outstanding and his people skills, made him easy and enjoyable to work with. Terry, the project supervisor is always outstanding, making sure everything is done to above professional standards. Robert has a quality staff that is definitely a cut above the rest.

Criner Remodeling has highly skilled employees that make us feel like they are truly interested in making us happy. They are friendly and we enjoy meeting with them for a few minutes in the morning before we leave for work. Their work is of highest quality and they have made our home something we not only enjoy, but are proud to share with our guests. Criner Remodeling has done one minor and three major remodeling jobs for us and they firmly stand behind every project. We are getting ready to start major project four in a few weeks.

Tony for his skills, creativity, and dependability. Ben for great ideas, problem solving, and most of all for his patience with undecided customers. Doug for his skills and willingness to make sure we were happy. Julie for her kindness and organizational skills. Terry for knowing all the answers and making sure the best job gets done.

Dan was exceptional on a daily basis during the project. So thorough and a perfectionist. I never had any doubts that all would be done well and each day the house was left clean and tidy. Unless you opened the bathroom door - you would not know renovation was going on. During the planning stages - Ben was calm, patient and so helpful, taking the time to present all options possible. His computer renderings enabled me to see the possibilities and proceed with the project.

We are very satisfy with the professionalism of the staff , the way that they worked with us from the planning phase to the last phone call to ensure that we were satisfied with the job, the construction materials were of high quality (they didn't tried to save money by purchasing low grade materials). The daily updates from the site staff.

Tony Domingos is wonderful and so easy to work with. He takes pride in what he does and it shows. He has a contageous work ethic, as everyone knows he likes to get in and get to work. He has a way of keeping the project moving forward. His meticulous attention to detail and expert craftsmanship make him absolutely golden. He not only knows his job, but what the subcontractors should do as well. He has been known to help subcontractors problem solve and find solutions when they are stumped. Love the way he will make suggestions and adds little touches as the project evolves to ensure spectacular results. In addition to listening to me, Ben Rooker came and spent time in my kitchen, watching me work. His infinite patience as we designed and redesigned resulted in a kitchen that is not only gorgeous, but very functional. He guided me through product selection, finding products that would give me desired functionality within the space constraints. I am thrilled to have a kitchen that is designed for me, and not a cookie cutter version those other contractors sell you. With aging in place considerations as well, I have a kitchen that is a pleasure to work in now and for many years to come.

Can't say enough good things about Criner Remodeling, my family contractor. You get the expertise of the entire team. They take the time to listen to you and what you want. They make suggestions to help you make your project even better than you envisioned. In addition to expert craftsmanship, they are reliable and dependable. You can trust them to do the job right the first time. Any issues encountered during the remodeling process are taken in stride and effectively resolved.

Tony, Michael, Luke, Ben, and Terry went above and beyond in ensuring that our house was livable for us during the renovation. The thought that went into coordinating the work such that we had airconditioning for all but a few days during a very hot summer was very much appreciated, as was ensuring continuous hot water and minimal interruption in all the household needs. We also appreciate the entire Criner staff for working to close up the house before a rainy weekend.

Great customer service, excellent workmanship, very responsive to the punch list. Having a project manager at the site everyday was great.

They were always doing extra things that they really didn't even have to do. They were highly organized and professional, even the subcontractors. They were very meticulous and really took pride in their work. It was obvious that they weren't just there for a pay check.

About GuildQuality and our Guildmembers

Homebuilders, remodelers, real estate developers and home services companies pay GuildQuality for customer surveying and performance reporting. We refer to these companies as GuildQuality Members, Guildmembers, or members.

Our service helps Guildmembers monitor customer satisfaction and -- if they choose to publish survey feedback on our public website at guildquality.com -- articulate the quality of their service for prospective customers.

All of the Guildmember information we publish at guildquality.com has been provided to us either by the member (such as pictures of work and biographical information) or by their customers via one of our surveys (customer comments, performance summaries, and reviews).

Surveys, Comments and Reviews

All of the customer feedback that we publish is derived from the customers we survey. Our Guildmembers provide us with their customers' contact information, we conduct the surveys, they receive the feedback, and -- if they have chosen to make their feedback public -- the member's performance report is automatically updated to reflect the response. Members may choose to publish a summary of either all of their feedback or their most recent twelve months of feedback.

In addition to average performance ratings and survey statistics, GuildQuality also publishes two types of customer commentary: Comments and Reviews.

A comment has been provided by a survey respondent in response to any one of the survey questions we ask, and a member may or may not choose to publish it. Often customers provide unsolicited testimonials or compliments, and members can choose to share these comments in their published performance report.

Many Guildmembers choose to participate in our formal review process. These members have added an additional question on their survey: "If you'd like to provide a public review of your experience working with the Guildmember, please share it here." In contrast to comments, which a member selects to have published, we publish all reviews, provided they are at least 30 words long. With each review, we include a one to five star rating provided by the survey respondent.

Important Information about choosing a Builder, Remodeler, or Contractor

Prospective customers should weigh a multitude of factors when choosing the right building company, and never depend on a single source when making their decision to purchase a home or hire a contractor.
