Keeping our priorities straight
I have received some great feedback from our members in response to my recent Letter from the Founder. In it, I solicited your constructive commentary about our surveying and reporting systems, and we’ve received some great insights and ideas as a result. Thanks! I thought you might find it interesting to know how we prioritize enhancements to our customer satisfaction surveying and reporting system.
Here’s a screen shot of our current “Enhancements” brainstorm (we use a web-based collaboration tool called “Basecamp” to keep track of all of the various projects we’re working on).
Whenever we come across a new enhancement idea, we add it to the list. If we come across something that’s already in our queue, and there’s a new angle on it, we may create a new post or just comment on an existing post.
After a few months of doing this, we develop a pretty robust repository of ideas for enhancing our reporting system (and thereby enhancing your experience with GuildQuality).
Obviously, we can’t implement every single idea. Just about all of the suggestions we get have some merit, but some are more brilliant than others.
When we’re preparing a scope for our “next round of enhancements,” we pour over all of these contributions, and consolidate the ideas into cohesive, implementable projects. Most are enhancements to existing functionality, and some describe new functionality altogether.
We then ask three questions about each project:
1) Is this going to be interesting to only a small number of our members, or will it benefit many of them?
2) How significantly will it improve their experience?
3) How much work is required to make it happen?
Projects that would 1) be relevant to a lot of members, 2) significantly enhance their experience, and 3) take little effort to develop will get lots of consideration. Projects that have a lesser return are not likely to get considered.
THANK YOU for the great ideas and please keep them coming. If you’ve got more to share, please pass them on via the Feature Requests section of the Forum.
