Customizing your surveys
Many of our members use the standard “GuildQuality Classic” survey for all of their customers. This is the survey GQ used when we didn’t offer customized surveying — it is straightforward and works for pretty much all types of building companies. It’s also the survey that will be automaticaly queued up if you never customize a survey. But, if you’d like to customize your surveys, or survey customers at multiple times throughout the building process, you’ll need to create your own surveys.
Creating a survey may sound daunting, but we’ve invested a lot in simplifying the process for you. For one thing, we don’t count on you to come up with your questions from scratch (though you can if you like). Instead, we’ve built a great catalog of questions for you. The question catalog facilitates the survey creation process and preserves your ability to benchmark your feedback against your peers.
To start creating a survey, log into your account, and click on the Survey Admin chapter. The “add a new survey” drop down menu will be in the upper right-hand corner. Select which kind of survey you’d like to create (At Contract, Mid Way Through the Construction Process, Shortly After Completion, or Long After Completion).

You’ll be presented with a list of questions that are relevant both to survey timeframe (At Contract, for example), and the type of business you do. When you logged into your account for the very first time, you were prompted to give a description of your company in the Company Description section of your preferences. This description was for more than just informational purposes. GQ uses your description to inform your customized survey creation. If you indicated you were a remodeler with a design center, GuildQuality keeps this in mind when it suggests questions for your surveys. It won’t, for example, suggest condo-related questions for a custom homebuilder.
Before choosing to include a question, you may read the question’s full text (by hovering over its abbreviated description), see how many other members ask the same question, and see what percentage of respondents answer a questions (rather than skipping it).
If you’d like to include a question that’s not covered in the catalog, you may develop your own custom question. For custom questions, you won’t have the ability to benchmark performance against peers.
Once you’ve created a survey and are ready to use it, assign it to a Survey Scenario, and you are ready to go.
A couple notes on creating surveys: This functionality is only available to Admin and Super users — not regular users. We limit this functionality to prevent tons of people administering your survey content. Also, the system limits your survey length to 25 questions. We don’t do this to be stingy, but to be respectful of your customers. They are eager to give you 5 minutes of feedback (as indicated by our response rate), but no one wants to participate in a never-ending survey.
